Probiotic Nutri-Slim Milk Shake offers a combination of ingredients that develop lean muscle tissue and muscle tone. They do this by improving the bodies capacity to use fat for energy efficiently.
These include the amino acids taurine and L-carnitine which help the bodies balance of water and metabolism of fat. Additionally, taurine can act as an antioxidant, adding protective capacity against free radicals.
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) has been added to Probiotic Nutri-Slim Milk Shake owing to its capacity to support muscle tone and to reduce body fat, particularly when combined with L-carnitine*. We have included high levels of Acai Berry extract in this shake, owing to the benefits brought by its high levels of anthocyanins, which act as powerful and natural antioxidants providing a rich source of amino acids, fibre, omega 3 6 oils, iron plus a whole range of vitamins.
Probiotic Nutri-Slim Milk Shake contains soy protein isolate, which provide high amounts of isoflavone. Current research suggests that this soy protein isoflavone may reduce the risks of breast cancer**.
We have also added green tea extract as it is a natural stimulant, which boosts the metabolism. It can increase energy for those reducing calories or carbohydrates in their diets with the benefit of being able to naturally reduce appetite and food cravings.
Feel Free Nutrition felt it was important to add a probiotic to this product, owing to the benefits that this will bring for people that struggle with protein supplementation owing to lactose intolerance and other digestive complications such as IBS.
Research has demonstrated that a including a daily probiotic can improve the symptoms of IBS***. It may also improve lactose tolerance.
For customers that have a dairy intolerance Feel Free Nutrition would recommend that they use unsweetened almond milk, as a low calorie alternative to milk.

Pure Whey Concentrate
Delactosed whey is added to the Breakfast Recovery, as it offers the rich proteins found in whey without the lactose – a carbohydrate that can exaggerate digestive intolerances in some people. Whey protein is popular among athletes because it can be rapidly digested and help return the post-workout body back from a catabolic state to an anabolic state (Burke, 2000)
Pure Whey Isolate
Whey protein isolate is a supplement that is high in bio-available proteins that are rapidly absorbed into the body and that have a high concentration of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). These are needed by working muscles to stimulate protein synthesis as well as for energy (Cribb et al, 2006). Whey isolates have had their base component (water) removed and are considered to be almost free of lactose and cholesterol: they are at least 90% protein by weight.
Feel Free Nutrition uses oat meal as the main carbohydrate sources in its Breakfast Recovery because oat meal delivers slow-release energy from fibre-dense carbohydrates that are gluten free. Oat meal contains both soluble and insoluble fibre – your body needs both. This fibre supports gastrointestinal health (Mälkki and Virtanen, 2001), increasing the surface area that the body can absorb nutrients across, which accelerates nutrient uptake and utilization.
Getting a regular supply of carbohydrates to working muscle is important because it helps shuttle vital amino acids, vitamins and minerals into the muscle cells. Additionally it assists the recovery process more efficiently. The carbohydrates released from oat meal perform these tasks effectively. Oat meal has additional health benefits in terms of stabilizing blood cholesterol and blood lipids (Ripsin et al, 1992)
Whole milk protein
Whole milk protein is obtained from skimmed milk through a process of filtration, evaporation and drying at low temperatures to ensure that there is no denaturing. This reduces the milk to the proteins casein and whey.
Whey protein is rapidly digested and absorbed by the body which makes it well suited for situations when it is needed instantly - such as after strenuous exercise. Casein is absorbs more gradually (Boirie, 1997) making it better suited for protein supply during rest periods and sleep.
Whole Milk Protein consists of both these proteins, which have different but complimentary benefits. Research has shown that this combination generates improved muscle anabolism (increases in lean muscle mass), muscle strength, anabolic hormones and muscle specific proteins (Andersen et al 2005; Willoughby et al 2006). Additionally, Whole milk protein provides Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) in addition to other essential amino acids that are beneficial to the body.
Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate created from cornstarch, rather than sugar – hence it is gluten-free, which makes it easy to digest plus it helps in the distribution and absorption throughout the body. Maltodextrin is suitable for anyone wanting to increase muscle rather than fat, including bodybuilders, rugby players, sprinters and other strength athletes (Roy and Tarnopolsky, 1998). It can speed up recovery when taken after training (Haff et al, 2001).
It can also provide an energy boost by increasing in blood glucose, which means it is suitable on occasions when you require an energy boost or when you need to replenish used glycogen stores.
Creatine is a form of energy that helps fuel your muscles during high intensity exercise. It is stored in muscle cells and can be replenished using natural sources such as red meat. However, if you are involved in regular high-intensity exercise, Creatine supplementation has been shown to be highly beneficial (Terjung et al, 2000). Creatine is not a stimulant like caffeine, so it won't give an immediate sensation: it works at the muscular level, supporting strength, power, explosive energy and endurance.
Creatine helps provide energy to complete each and every muscular contraction. Research has shown (Rawson and Volek 2003) that despite there being differences in the increases witnessed in muscle strength and weightlifting improvements for people using creatine, subjects taking creatine experience greater increases in muscle strength and weightlifting performance compared with people not using Creatine. These gains can be even greater when untrained people use Creatine and who then begin strength training.
Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found in the body and it assists with muscle repair: it assists with recovery by reducing soreness. Training places demands on the body, which results in fatigue and can prevent you from continuing – unless you take time to recover. The longer recovery takes, the longer it will take to reach goals.
The body can lose up to 50% of its glutamine levels during training. Other parts of the body also use glutamine – including the immune system (Newsholme 2001) – and hence the body can become glutamine-deficient as supplies can get reduced (Lacey and Wilmore 1990). When this happens, catabolism is possible, which means the body uses protein from the muscles to create proteins and glucose for other parts of the body (Salehian et al 2006)
Glutamine could get misinterpreted as a 'simple' amino acid, with little need for supplementation. It could be argued as one of the most effective natural anti-catabolic supplements, which is why it is included in Breakfast Recovery.
Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs)
Medium chain triglycerides, MCTs, are used in Breakfast Recovery because they get more rapidly digested - and then used for energy – than other fats. MCTs can quickly be used as a fuel source (like carbohydrates do) for muscle energy, plus they are less likely to get stored (Clegg, 2010; Tsuji et al, 2000). This provides a very rich fuel source for muscles rapidly after taking Breakfast Recovery. They give less energy (8.3 kCal/gram) than other fats (9 kCal/gram). MCTs are naturally found in coconut oil and palm kernel oil.
